Chasing Summer - Behind the prints

Chasing Summer - Behind the prints

When designing our collection Chasing Summer I wanted to create a colour palette that screams summertime! What screams summer more than the colours orange, coral, lime & yellow?

The print 'Summer Punch' is extra special to me as it contains the first flower I ever watercolour painted. Back when I was studying fashion at tafe and was taught by the best @michellepikeillustration (go check her out she's such a sweetheart & is extremely talented) I am so so inspired by Michelle, I found my love for watercolour painting thanks to her. She taught me beautiful technique and from there, the creativity flowed and I found my passion.

I always knew I wanted to own my own fashion label but, 'in what?', I wasn't too sure yet as I was still learning about myself at the ripe age of 15 years old. (If you havn't read my previous blog post go check it out, it speaks of how i left school at 15 years old to chase my dreams of studying fashion design.)

I've always had a love for the ocean. It's my favourite place to be, as soon as its raining you'll find me looking like a lost puppy. I also have a ridiculous collection and obsession for swimwear (my parents always told me it was absurd and to get rid of them, and that it was 'a waste of money'). Turns out this is how I decided I would merge my 3 favourite things together: The beach, watercolour & swimwear/resort. Now known to you as Zanyla Resort.

The other print I designed for this collection 'Papaya Snowdrop' was inspired by the January birthflower (the snowdrop). So this collection is for all you summertime January babies!! I added the painting of the papaya to give the print more of a tropical kick.

I hope you all love these collections as much as the passion and energy I put into creating them everyday. Thank you all for following along and supporting my dreams.
